FDA Updates Animal Drug Approvals and Regulations

The Food and Drug Administration has amended regulations to reflect new animal drug application actions from early 2026.

The Food and Drug Administration is updating animal drug regulations to incorporate application actions for new, abbreviated, and conditionally approved animal drug applications processed between January and March 2026. These amendments also aim to improve the accuracy and readability of existing regulations.

Intervet, Inc. received conditional approval for EXZOLT CATTLE-CA, a fluralaner topical solution. The approved specifications for the product include 50 milligrams of fluralaner per milliliter.

Parnell Technologies Pty. Ltd. secured original approval for nixiFLOR, a florfenicol product.

Other regulatory changes include revised indications for the use of doramectin to treat and prevent New World screwworm larvae infestations. The FDA also updated labeling language for indications and limitations regarding ractopamine hydrochloride.

These rule changes become effective July 7, 2026.
