American Water Secured Pennsylvania Revenue Increase
Pennsylvania regulators approved an approximately $74.9 million annual revenue increase.
American Water Works Company (AWK), the regulated water and wastewater utility, secured approval for a Pennsylvania revenue increase supporting infrastructure investment.
The decision marked a new regulatory step for American Water as it worked to replace aging systems and address emerging water-quality requirements.
Pennsylvania regulators approved an approximately $74.9 million annual revenue increase.
The additional revenue was intended in part to fund replacement of aging infrastructure, extending the company’s investment in its Pennsylvania systems.
American Water also planned to use the increase to expand treatment for PFAS, a group of persistent chemicals subject to growing water-quality scrutiny.
Lead-service-line removal formed the third major investment priority covered by the approval, tying the added revenue to projects aimed at modernizing the utility’s distribution network.
